The Grizzlies represent The Divide at the Tahoe Memorial Day Tournament

180 teams converged from all over California, Oregon and Nevada to compete at various age levels and ability.  This tournament is hosted by Hardwood Palace and directed by Steve Williams.

The newly formed Divide Grizzlies directed by Billy Bob Goldstein sent four teams to compete at various venues spread out across the Tahoe and Nevada region.  

The U12 boys coached by Ed Larson earned a respectable record of 2-2.  The U13 girls coached by Shawn Alexander also served up a 2-2 record as did his U14 boys team.  The U17 boys coached by Billy Bob struggled and were without a victory but were extremely competitive in each of their games.

One of the highlights of the event was a team pizza party on Saturday night at Grand Central Pizza and Pasta.  All four teams were present as well as family and friends.  In all, there were close to 100 folks from the Divide present.  

Jeni Harvey, a parent, teacher, swim and snowboard coach at Golden Sierra shared, “what a great opportunity for our community and what a great experience this is for our kids.”  

This opportunity is due to the efforts of Billy Goldstein who brings his experience operating sports camps in the Bay Area to the Divide.
